Producing excellence through experience; shaping better social work education through working in partnership
involve@mdx was founded within the Department of Mental Health and Social Work at Middlesex University. involve@mdx is a long-standing social work service user group which strives to enhance service user and carer participation in social work education.
involve@mdx works in partnership with the social work programme at Middlesex University to achieve its commitment to enabling qualifying social workers to value lived experience and work collaboratively with service users and carers.
Members of involve@mdx have experience of using social work services and strive to improve and influence the education of the next generation of social workers.
Members of involve@mdx participate in every stage of the student journey, from admission interviews, teaching and assessment, right through to qualification; putting service users and carers at the centre of social work practice.
The Social Work team at Middlesex University is consistently ranked highly in the Complete University Guide and has excellent relationships with a range of local authorities and NHS trusts, voluntary sector organisations, and service users and carers. Involvement of service users and carers is an integral part of the department strategy and this commitment is shown through the adoption of the National Involvement Standards, 4Pi.
